Tivoli Gardens will have a good shot at returning to the top of the Digicel Premier League, when they play a Humble Lion team currently occupying a spot in the bottom three, in a rescheduled game at the Effortville Community Centre today.
After a positive start, the west Kingston team will head into today's encounter in fourth place, but having played one game less than Boys' Town and joint leaders Portmore and Waterhouse.
Despite a 1-0 loss to rivals Boys' Town two weeks ago, Tivoli, last season's runners-up, have been in impressive form, capped off by an impressive showing in a 4-0 thrashing of Village United in their last encounter.
Good record
"Our Premier League record against them was good last year, it gives us a bit of confidence, but this is a new season with new challenges so we cannot look at history, we just have to go out there, work hard and hope for a good result," said Tivoli's manager, Brian Rose.
Humble Lion's technical director, Anthony Pringle, is buoyed by the team's recent trip to the Cayman Islands and believes things are looking up.
"It (Cayman tour) was about building team spirit and it was a successful tour, as in that respect we have returned reinvigorated," Pringle said. "The aim is to get three points tomorrow.
"We know they are a good team but we are upbeat and fancying our chances in front of the home crowd."
