Thinking of relocating
My Delhi days are becoming a little more pleasant with each passing hour and after careful consideration, I'm now seriously thinking about relocating.
Ok, we all know that was a bad joke, but after reading and hearing all the terribly vile things that were said about this rising global metropolis, I could be excused for coming here with a less-than-flattering impression of the place.
However, I admit, it's not that bad after all.
Off the top of my head, I can easily point to a few things that I really like about this place, such as the warmth of the people and their willingness to go out of their way to make you think less of home.
One of my favourite things are the little three-wheeled green and yellow coated short-distance taxis known as Rickshaws. These things are everywhere, and there is little amazement regarding their popularity because surely there could not be a better way to get you from one point to the next in this traffic trap.
Should it take you five minutes to get to a particular place, these little things will get you there in three, zipping through traffic with no regard for fellow motorists or even stop lights and traffic police in some cases, this is the way to travel in Delhi, a city known for its grossly congested roads.
They certainly aren't very clean, so a bottle of sanitiser is always handy, but it's the fastest 80mph I've ever experienced.
