Bank on Penthouse Sweet

With a lucky punter having cornered the $1.6 million Pick-9 at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, it starts anew tomorrow with the guaranteed minimum of $1 million up for grabs.

The Pick-9 will embrace races two to 10 on the card, while the first Super-6 will be conducted on the first six races, with the overlapping Super-6 beginning in race five.

We look at the second Super-6 which gets under way with a 2-y-o maiden race over 1200 metres in which the well-forward debutante PENTHOUSE SWEET, to be ridden by champion jockey Omar Walker for champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, could be used as a banker.

The American-bred filly by City Place out of Belongs On Top has been burning up the track at exercise, galloping 5¹/_² furlongs in an eye-popping 1:06.2 on Monday morning. She could be something special and should get off the mark immediately in a field of nine imported two-year-olds.

Walker and DaCosta should also team up with another American filly, NESTEL'S ANNETTE, to win the sixth race over the straight-five course for maiden three-year-olds. The race has attracted nine starters and in addition to NESTEL'S ANNETTE, others capable of figuring are G-FORCE (knocking at the door), SHAWN'S GIRL, SI PUEDO and the DaCosta-trained MONEY SPINNER.

Late in picking up pace

NESTEL'S ANNETTE was highly fancied to win on her debut over 1100 metres on September 29, but failed to go the early pace, and when she got going it was too late. She finished 2¹/_² lengths third to the useful J.R'S DREAM and G-FORCE, and now better for the experience and the tongue tie fitted, should not only turn the tables on G-FORCE, but beat the former record-priced yearling ($2.7 million) SI PUEDO as well.

Hat-trick seeker MARK TO MARKET has won back-to-back races quite convincingly over the straight-five course and ought to be followed in the seventh, a $350,000- $300,000 claiming race. He faces the usual suspects such as EXPRESS RAIN, SOMETHING DOING and DANCING SAM in the eight-horse field, but should prove equal to the task with in-form Dane Nelson aboard.

It should be Walker and DaCosta again in the eighth race over the round-five course for maiden three-year-olds, both teaming up with the speedy SUPER TROOPER, who should make amends for his near miss over 1100 metres on September when caught on the line by SALUTE TO MOM.

The Walker-DaCosta show should continue with LITTLE WASP in the ninth race (overnight allowance) at 1100 metres, following her good second to stable companion CLASSY PROSPECT in a fast-run 1200-metre race on September 25. The improving three-year-old colt REAL MINISTER looks her principal danger in the nine-strong field, having won two of his last four races.

Then, take last Saturday's impressive Jockey Club Stakes winner MEDICAL REPORT (down in class) to repeat in the closing Alex's Imports 'Dig Out' Handicap over 1500 metres. Former dual classic winner RUM TALK, now dropped in class, looks his main danger.
