Defending champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) booked their place in the inter-zone round of the 2010 ISSA/Pepsi/ Digicel daCosta Cup yesterday afternoon when they tagged the previously unbeaten Munro College 2-0 in their top-of-the-table Zone F clash in Malvern.

In a game played in a mixture of heavy rain and fog, the STETHS team proved much better than their first round 0-0 draw, striking decisively through second-half goals from Levaughn Baker (penalty) and Akeem Jones. Munro College missed a penalty when they were trailing 1-0.

"This victory was something we prepared hard for so it did not come as a surprise to us," said STETHS's assistant coach Omar Legister. "I think the boys played very well today and should be commended."

In Zone B, rampant eight-time champions Rusea's, the first inter-zone qualifiers on Wednesday, reached yet another milestone in spanking Frome Technical 3-0, which moved them to an unassailable 21 points, which means they have also taken the group's lone Ben Francis KO slot - a privilege reserved for zone winners.

In yet another dominant performance, the Rusea's team took their perfect 100 per cent win record to seven games as prolific Bryan Brown was again on fire, scoring twice. In their first-round meeting, Rusea's had also won comfortably by a 2-0 margin.

Over at Jarrett Park, in the big clash between former champions St James High School and Cornwall College, the Hugh Solomon-coached St James High scored a hard-fought come-from- behind 2-1 win, courtesy of a double strike by Alwayne Barrett, who scored twice from the penalty spot. Nickyle Webber got Cornwall College's lone goal.
