How can I help?
How do I help this young man rebuild his life - to regain his boat and engine?

GOJ should demand compensation
Our government should demand an explanation and compensation from the Haitian government.

Where are the other two men?
So are the Jamaican authorities trying to find the other two Jamaicans?

How do our courts treat Haitians?
Wow! Wow! Wow! Surely, there has got to be more to this story. Why was there no contact made by the Haitian authorities with Jamaican representatives? Is this the way Jamaican courts and penal system would have treated a Haitian caught in Jamaican waters?

Get a visa next time
Wow! Sorry, Mr Linton, so sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience in another country, maybe the next time you intend to enter a foreign jurisdiction you might want to satisfy their immigration laws, that is, maybe get a visa and definitely a passport.
Whereas I do not believe your story, I do believe that you could become an asset to the Jamaican authorities in convincing other fishermen to refrain from illegalities in Haiti, that is, the gun-for-drugs trade.

Return the favour
Jamaicans need to return the favour when Haitians visit our shores illegally!

Keep your head up
This is sad. Now people should understand why that country (Haiti) was hit that hard; those people have been evil for too long. Keep your head up my brother, who God bless, no man can stop. Father God will find a way for you to start making money doing what you love to do - being a fisherman.
