Servers of authentic Indian Cuisine, Jewel of India, located in The Courtyard at the Market Place along Constant Spring Road in St Andrew, will be serving up their cuisine with love.

The restaurant, which is once again on the line-up for The Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week, is poised to serve its usual savoury dishes. Devi Prasad, a chef of 12 years, and one of the restaurant's main chefs, is in love with food.

"I like this job and working with food," said 30-year-old Prasad.

The chef, who is from the northern section of India and was trained in his native country at the Food Craft Institute, brings that influence to his creations.

When Food visited the restaurant, Prasad presented a spread of some of the dishes which will be prepared for Restaurant Week. Dishes include hariyali chicken, lamb seekh kebab served with corriander and mint chutney, vegetable samosas with vegetable bhaj served with tamarind sauce, mixed seafood (shrimp, scallops and conch) and green curry in a coconut milk sauce, chicken vindaloo (chicken curry with potatoes), mixed dhal (black and yellow lentils and red peas), Basmati rice pilau, naan, dhal and rice goes to every table.

Dessert will be a choice of kher (Indian rice pudding), mango coconut cheesecake or chocolate tofu pie.

Prasad is looking forward to a usual busy Restaurant Week.
