A well placed ninth-minute free-kick by defender Jermaine Taylor was enough to secure full points for St Georges Sports Club, in their Digicel Premier League match against Humble Lion at Lynch Park, on Wednesday.

The 1-0 win was St Georges' first victory, since the start of the 2010-11 season.

"We played a disciplined game, and it was evident that the guys really wanted this victory. Taylor's free kick was magical, and all the players played their hearts out," St Georges coach Braxton Hyre said.

St Georges should have scored a second when the busy and skilful Devor Orgill beat two defenders and went goalwards but fired tamely to the advancing goal-keeper.

Assistant coach of Humble Lion, Linval Wilson, said the game was tough, but noted that apart from Taylor's free kick, the game could have gone either way.

"It was a good game," he said. "We played well especially in the second half. It is unfortunate that we lost the game, but I believe we will bounce back from this defeat."
