In your neighbourhood: Racing Links, CTL for RFL football final
The curtain comes down on the 2010 Racing Fraternity Football League tomorrow with unbeaten Racing Links opposing Caymanas Track Limited in the final at Ironside ground, Gregory Park, starting at 4 p.m.
This will be preceded by the third-place play-off between losing semi-finalists Owners and Landscape, who topped Zone 'A'.
In semi-final action on Wednesday at Ironside, CTL clipped previously unbeaten Landscape 1-0, courtesy of a penalty converted by Frederick 'Polka' Kenward in the dying stages.
Kenward was brought down in front of the goal and made no mistake from the spot.
In the second match, Zone 'B' winners Racing Links drubbed Owners 3-0, thanks to a double strike from Kerrigan Carty in the eighth and 36th minutes, and Oliver Buchanan in the 38th.
The final will be immediately followed by the presentation of trophies and prizes.
The seven-a-side competition is sponsored by the United Bookmakers' Association, Track Price Plus, Markham Betting, Champion Betting, General Painting, McKay Security, Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders' Association, Sports Gear and Trevor Dunkley and Associates.

Tank-Weld retain Justbet Trophy
Tank-Weld Metals retained the Justbet Business House five-a-side football trophy on Tuesday when they defeated Scotiabank Group 2-0 in the final at the NWC playing field, Mona.
The game was an evenly contested affair, with national goalkeeper Richard McCallum making some brilliant saves to prevent Scotia's Nicholas McCreath, Donovan Hibbert, Damion Gordon and Akeem Thenstead from scoring in the first half.
At the other end, Scotiabank's custodian Damion Crooks was also busy between the sticks to keep the goal-hungry Tank-Weld strikers Jonathan Williams, Theo Brown, Lorenzo Johnson and Jermaine Gray at bay.
The match swung in Tank-Weld's favour early in the second half when Scotiabank's defender Damion Gordon was shown the red card for a dangerous tackle on Damion Robinson.

The match ended goalless and was forced into extra time, at which stage a double strike by Jermaine Gray in the 64th and 70th minutes ensured that his team remained champions.
Tank-Weld's captain, Richard McCallum, was presented with the magnificent Justbet Trophy by Carlene Edwards, senior corporate communications officer, Supreme Ventures Limited and Business House Football Association president, Wayne Shaw.
Tank-Weld collected $60,000 as well, while Scotiabank, which was named the most disciplined team, picked up $30,000 for second.
Klas Sports FM 89 was voted the most improved team, while Michael Lewis and Garfield Robinson of NWC were voted manager and coach of the season, respectively.

Cal's pool tour continues in MoBay
Round three of the Cal's Spring Water/Real Vibes Party Wine-sponsored pool tour moves to Montego Bay today and tomorrow at Kendan Pool & Games, 32 Jarrett Street.
The two previous tournaments in the all-island tour, which includes seven tournaments (one each month), were won by MoBay's top player Noel 'Schoolboy' Blagrove and Chelsea's Calhoun Melville, respectively.
Both defeated the season's top-ranked player, Ewart Hall, from Hot Shots in the final to secure the $85,000 prize and trophy. Hall secured $35,000 and a trophy for second (twice).
Nearly all of the island's top players are expected to participate, including Blagrove, Melville and Hall, among others.
The competition is run by the Jamaica Billiards Association . Entry fee is $1,500 and to participate in the tournaments, players must be paid-up members of the association. It will cost a new player $3,000 to sign up.

Scotiabank 'A' reach Senior League netball final
Defending champions Scotiabank 'A' advanced to the final of the Business House Netball Association Senior League competition, thanks to a 85-15 drubbing of Police 'A' in semi-final action at the Leila Robinson Courts on Thursday.
Despite playing without top shooter Marsha Murphy, Scotia 'A' showed no mercy, as goal shooter Viola Francis-Cummings took charge with 65 points, ably supported by captain Naudia Brown with 20.
On the previous Thursday, Scotiabank 'A' defeated former champions General Accident 47-35 in a top-of-the-table clash, with ace goal-shooter Marsha Murphy leading the way with 38 points.
The other semi-final will see General Accident opposing Jamaica Broilers at the Leila Robinson Courts. The winners will meet Scotia 'A' in the final.
Coached by the acclaimed Winston Nevers, Scotiabank 'A' are unbeaten in eight matches this season.
Last year's Junior League champions, The Gleaner, advanced to the semis of the Intermediate 'B' League earlier this week with a win over Serha.

St George's top Knox Basketball Classic
Urban powerhouse St George's College topped both categories of the annual Knox Basketball Classic held in Spaldings recently.
St George's met host school and main sponsor, Knox College, in both the junior (Under-16) and senior (Under-19) finals. St Georges comfortably won 16-8 in the U-16's final and blew away the host in the U-19s, 30-12.
Christiana High secured third place in the Under-19 games, while deCarteret College (DC) copped the third place in the Under-16. In the individual awards, Vaughn Reynolds, with 35 points, was voted MVP, while Phillip Donaldson of Glenmuir, who led all shooters with 30, took that award among the juniors.
Other scores throughout the series, which fielded six schools and ten teams: (Junior) - St George's also beat DC 25-7 and Glenmuir 12-8 while Knox defeated Glenmuir 23-10. In the seniors, St George's outclassed Glenmuir 21-0 and Edwin Allen 30-3 while Knox turned back DC 16-15, Glenmuir 22-2 and Christiana High 26-11.

Jamalco Football League awards
Ian Andrews, executive director of INSPORTS, told recipients of awards at the Jamalco Football League presentation ceremony at the Halse Hall Great House recently that they can use football as a tool to achieve full emancipation from slavery.
During his extensive presentation as guest speaker, Andrews referred to painful aspects of slavery in Jamaica, which he said had left a negative legacy on its people. He added that excellence in sports, as well as its financial benefits, can alleviate such strains.
Meanwhile, 2010 champions New Bowens featured prominently among the awards. They collected the first prize of $150,000, the Jerome Maxwell trophy and $10,000 prize money for being the most disciplined, and also an award of $ 10,000 for being the best dressed team. From their squad, captain Ivanhoe Morrison picked up the Most Valuable Player award for the finals, which they won against Top Hill 1-0. Peter Brown also secured a trophy and prize money for emerging the top scorer.

Second-place Top Hill collected $100,000. Juventus won the Best Attacking Team award for scoring 17 goals from six games; Most Defensive Team award went to Bottom Halse Hall, who conceded a mere three goals; while Leighton Wright, who once played for Galaxy in the Premier League, was adjudged top goalkeeper.
Councillor Milton Brown, mayor of May Pen, gave greetings at the ceremony, which was chaired by Phillip Biggs, community relations officer at Jamalco. The managing director of Jamalco again pledged his company's commitment to further sponsorship, as well as reiterated a dream to one day have a Jamalco team in the National Premier League. Lance Robinson read congratulatory remarks from the president of the Clarendon FA, Mike Ricketts, who was off the island at the time, as head of delegation for the National Under-20's recent qualifying tournament in Guyana.

Mile Gully top Manchester FA 2010 awards
Former Premier League participants Mile Gully, who returned to the top of Manchester's football when they won the parish's Major League competition, walked away with the lion's share of the prize money and individual awards.
The club, which will now participate in the upcoming season's South Central Confed Super League, collected $195,000 for winning Captain's Bakery-sponsored Major League.
In addition, from their winning squad, Michael Parcel, who was a member of the Manchester High team which reached last season's daCosta Cup final against STETHS, won $10,000 for being the top goalkeeper, Blake Thompson secured $10,000 for emerging the top defender, while Shenaldo Parkes, another Manchester High player, walked away with a $30,000 scholarship incentive awarded by the sponsor for the 2010 Youth Player award.

Kendal gets awards
Kendal, who reached the semi-finals, pocketed the remaining two individual awards with striker Maurice Peart (leading goalscorer) and Tevland Bailey (top midfielder).
In other awards, Georges Valley collected $40,000 for winning the Brumalia House/Locker Room Sports-sponsored Knockout Cup, while Star Liner took home $50,000 for winning the Division Two title, sponsored by Power Services Company Limited. Star Liner also secured two individual awards, as Oral Plummer was named most valuable player and Bonito Daley got top midfielder. Sean Campbell of Greenvale was the top goalscorer, while Haniff Martin (top defender) and Terry Price (top goalkeeper) of Comfort, completed the sectional awards.
Porus took the main prize for winning the Under-17 competition, sponsored by Power Services Company Limited. From their line-up, Sebastian Williams was named top goalscorer; Latiere Ramsay, top defender; and Clevon White, top goalkeeper. Delroy Miller of Mile Gully won the top midfielder award.

Hope Village, Red Square for Peter Bunting final
The unbeaten Hope Village team and hometown favourites Red Square are set to meet in tomorrow's final of the Peter Bunting/Georges Valley corner league football at the deCarteret College field.
Hope Village topped their preliminary zone before beating Porus 2-1 in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals, they had to overcome another hometown favourite, Sweden Street, 5-4 on penalties after the two had battled to a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra time. They, however, have been idle for three weekends due to how inclement weather has been affecting the competition.
Red Square were given a walk-over in the quarter-finals after Belair failed to show. Shaun Walcott's goal then sealed their place in the finals after a 1-0 win over Comfort.

Cumberland test for Hangover
Joint leaders Hangover United (29 points) will be tested as they host third-place club Cumberland (28 points) in the Colin Fagan-sponsored South East St Catherine Portmore Domino League match tomorrow.
In other games, co-leader, Portmore Lane Tigers (29 points), welcome Ken's Wildflower at the Portmore Lane venue, Passagefort United oppose Garveymeade Sports Club at Passagefort, Portsmouth United host Westchester United, and City Black Rock entertain Waterford United at Augusta Drive in Independence City. All games begin at 1 p.m.
Wray and Nephew cricket resumes
The Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum Portmore Cricket League resumes tomorrow with three games. Former champs Ken's Wildflower oppose Washington CC at Bridgeport Sports ground, Reid's Pen host Belmont at Lime Tree Oval, whereas Bridgeview take on Portsmouth at the Portsmouth ground.The competition has been plagued by the inclement weather.

GC Foster on fire
Last year's beaten finalists, G.C. Foster College, were in a rampant mood on Thursday in the opening round of the intercollegiate senior netball competition as they demolished defending champions University of Technology (UTech) 61-10.
Playing at home, the defending champions, who won the title by one point over their rivals last season, were stunned early as the C. Lloyd Walker-coached team raced to an impressive 18-1 first-quarter lead.
The game was held up for some 30 minutes due to heavy rains, but the break did not slow down the Spanish Town-based team as, with captain Tasha Gay Lynch at goal defence and goal attack Shaye Walton at their best, they continued to pile on the pressure to lead 37-3 at half-time. Despite showing some improvement in the second half, the defending champions still found the going tough as G.C. Foster romped to a resounding victory.
There was also action in the intermediate and junior competitions. In intermediate action, defending champions The Mico University College started their defence on a winning note when they won hosts Moneague Teacher's College 35-14. Mico goalshooter Monique Smith scored 26 points from 30 attempts.
In other intermediate games, the University of West Indies defeated Portmore Community College 27-14, while in Junior League action, Northern Caribbean University dispatched Caribbean Maritime Institute 18-1.

BH domino finals postponed to Oct 22
The divisional finals of the Wray & Nephew-sponsored Business House domino competition, which were postponed from October 8 due to bad weather, have been resche-duled for Friday, October 22, at Jacisera Park, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The recent KO champions Berger Paints will oppose SDC in the Division I final, while unbeaten STATIN (Statistical Institute) take on Norman Manley International Airports in the Division II final.
This is the second time in recent weeks that the finals have had to be postponed due to bad weather.
