The 25th anniversary staging of the National Commercial Bank (NCB) Visa Classic Bell-Ziadie Memorial football charity match will be held on Monday, Heroes Day, at Winchester Park, St George's College.

The match brings together a host of well-known sporting and business personalities, including two of the nation's biggest stars in the historic France '98 World Cup campaign, Walter Boyd and Onandi Lowe.

Walter Boyd, Onandi Lowe, Kymani Marley, Christopher Martin, Dean Shepherd, Byron Earle and Hugh 'Bingy' Blair are all expected to feature for the Masters, Celebrities and Enter-tainers team.

The St George's College Old Boys team will include Andrew Price, Nick Ziadie, Ali Mc-Nab, Courtney Walsh, Wayne Marshall, Andre Viture and Peter Prendergast.

The day's proceedings will begin at 2 p.m. with a sponsor's team battling a media invitational side.

The sponsor's team will include Oliver McIntosh, Warren Wilson, Elvis Clarke, Al Holness, Adrian Pitter and Dwayne Chambers, while the media team will include Ian 'Beenie' Burnett, Damion Gordon, Neville Oxford, Lance Whittaker Ralston Hyman, Audley Boyd and Ryon Jones.

Basic school to benefit

Proceeds of the event will go towards rebuilding Feed My Sheep Basic School. Contribution for the event $300 and children Under-12 will be admitted free.

Clive 'Busy' Campbell, organiser of the event, recognises the contributions of Bell and Ziadie, who played on St George's College's All-Schools, St George's division one and Jamaica's football teams. Bell also coached the national senior team and Santos during its heyday when the Corporate Area club won its five National League titles.

Ziadie, one of the first players contracted to the North American Soccer League, was also a national youth and St George's College coach.

"I want people to come out and enjoy themselves because we will be having a lot of prizes and surprises for the spectators from our sponsors," said Campbell.

"We want to help the children at this basic school and I am asking that whoever can give more to give because it will be going to a worthy cause," Campbell said.

Each year, a number of persons are honoured for their contribution to society in various fields.

This year's honorees are Owen Parker, former Jamaica and West Indies football player; Ainsley Sharpe, former FIFA referee; Bruce Lyn, former St George's College Manning Cup star; and Harold Murray, social worker.

The other sponsors for year's event are Red Stripe, Western Sports, Jamaica National, Claro, SportsMax, Wray and Nephew and Cuddy'z Sports Bar.
