Sixty-one years of friendship
Members of the political, business and diplomatic communities braved the stormy weather on Sunday, October 10 to attend a banquet at Talk of the Town, The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, hosted by the Jamaica China Friendship Association.
Occasion was the celebration of the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Among the special guests were patron of the association, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, and Lady Allen; ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Chen Jingua, and guest speaker Delroy Chuck, speaker of the House of Representatives, and wife Pat.
The walls of the room were awash with red and gold, in keeping with the Chinese theme. And a number of the members of the Jamaica China Friendship Association, headed by its president Fay Pickersgill, wore Chinese-inspired outfits.
The menu comprised a wide range of Chinese dishes prepared by Golden Gate Restaurant. Red and white wine flowed freely.
