Below are edited excerpts from comments posted online at www.jamaica-gleaner.com by readers to yesterday's lead story 'Natalie's million-dollar secret - What the MPs were hiding in Constituency Development Fund talks'.
What is she afraid of?
If she erred and was confident the contract was not padded, she has nothing to fear. Sometimes you have to buck the system and do what you have to do for your constituency rather than wait for the red tape to clear.
For the first time, Everald Warmington makes sense in his approach to resolve the problem. He did not yell or curse other members of the committee.

Good intentions
Mrs Natalie Neita-Headley's intentions were for the good of the community, and since the work had already been done, the committee should have gone ahead and made the information available to the media. Greg Christie of the OCG, would have understood.
The bigger picture, however, is that Mr Warmington's intention was not above board. He wanted to make more of the situation and to use it for political gain in the future. I am glad that Mrs Neita-Headley did not make the information public. I can see that Mr Christie is doing such a good job trying to clean up the corruption, that is the reason why he is so unpopular with other members of the Government. He seems to be reasonable enough to understand that an error had taken place and was willing to overlook the situation, but others on the committee did not have good intentions, it seems.

Programme in disrepute
Every egregious action was intended for the good of something, so her action, though noble, has brought this good programme into disrepute and based on her quest not to have the contractor general getting wind of the breach is, indeed, uncomplimentary.

Too much bureaucracy
There is too much bureaucracy in government and that's why things are not getting done and that leads to corruption!
If she did the work that was needed and there is proof that the work was done and there was value for money, I see nothing wrong with what she did!
To make this fund work, all MPs should be given their portion and they put it where the need is very well needed and all they have to do is to account for how it was spent.
