Boys' Town cool Waterhouse

BOYS' TOWN rebounded from last Wednesday's 1-5 walloping at Harbour View to totally outplay joint leaders Waterhouse in a 1-0 victory at Collie Smith Drive yesterday afternoon.
The victory moved Boys' Town from 10 points, fourth on goal difference, to 13, tied with Waterhouse and Portmore atop the league, pending results of later games.
Boys' Town coach, Andrew Price, said he rallied his team after Wednesday's loss.
"That's my job as a coach to motivate my team," he said. "I told them we are playing the leaders so let's go out there and get three points to join them at the top."
After terrorising Baris Johnson's team for the entire first half, bringing out the best in national goalie Richard McCallum, Michael Campbell gave Boys' Town their winner from close range in the 61st minute.
Heroic save
Called on to pull off another heroic save, this time off a Renae Lloyd blast from inside the box, McCallum did well to block the shot.
However, the rebound fell kindly for the unmarked Campbell at the back post and he calmly slotted in to send the home crowd crazy.
They had every right to celebrate after earlier watching Lloyd being outfoxed by McCallum, who saved a penalty off the Boys' Town midfielder in the 48th minute.
Boys' Town's designated penalty shooter, Lloyd, fell victim to the goalkeeper's lateral movement on his line, and kicked to McCallum's right after the goalie had feigned to the left.
Groans of disbelief echoed around Collie Smith Drive when McCallum collected the rebound to keep the score at 0-0.
Disappointed
Although disappointed after Lloyd's miss, Price said he knew his team had the match in the bag.
"Normally, Renae would have put those away, but we had so much territorial advantage I knew Waterhouse would have cracked.
It was definitely a matter of time before Boys' Town scored, especially after a double ejection in the 36th minute which saw Waterhouse lose strongman Roger Rodney in defence due to a scuffle with Boys' Town forward Shane Edwards.
Both saw instant red cards but Waterhouse came out worse and their back line was like a sieve for the rest of the match.
Only the brilliance of McCallum in goal, an acrobatic tip off Anthony Bennett's long-range shot in the 59th and a one-handed attempt to parry Lloyd's stinging shot from the top of the box in the 82nd, allowed Waterhouse to leave with a respectable loss.
