Pembroke Hall too strong for Digicel
Defending champions Pembroke Hall thrashed newcomers Digicel 5-0 in the opening match of their division three encounter of the National Table Tennis Club Championship, at Pembroke Hall Community Centre on Thursday.
In individual singles, veteran Neil Harvey cruised past Nathan Kellyman 11-2, 11-4, 11-6 (3-0); national female champion Yvonne Foster overpowered Chris Reid 12-10, 11-6, 11-8 (3-0); national junior representative Jordan Hazle outscored Derrick Rowe 8-11, 11-7, 11-7, 1-8 (3-1); and Glen-Ross McDonald eased past Nicholas Brown 11-2, 11-7, 11-2 (3-0).
In the doubles action, McDonald and Hazle got by Rowe and Tyrone Gordon 15-13, 11-5, 11-9 (3-0) to complete Pembroke Hall's 5-0 triumph.
Pembroke Hall have won this category six times in the last 11 years in the league, and have made their intention clear from the beginning this season.
The league continues today with Jamaica National Building Society entertaining Pembroke Hall at 2-4 Constant Spring Road, Half-Way Tree, starting at 2 p.m.
