The Rotaract Club of Liguanea Plains (RCLP) is promising an energetic party on the seas next Sunday evening when the SS Caribbean Queen sets sail around the Kingston Harbour.

The 'above-deck' party, dubbed 'Fantastic Voyage', will raise funds for the National Children's Home in Papine, St Andrew. The funds will be used to refurbish the home's library, which will be upgraded to a learning resource centre.

"We will set sail at 5 p.m. sharp from the dock, which is located at 1 Port Royal Street, adjacent to the Kingston Craft Market," coordinator and RCLP director of fund-raising, Khadrea Folkes said.

"And once we sail, patrons can expect a highly charged four-hour 'Fantastic Voyage' with Zip Jock 'Johnny Kool' of Zip 103 FM at the turntables."

Tier ticket benefits

Aboard, patrons will be treated to an inclusive event, with some receiving added treats based on the type of ticket purchased.

"There is a platinum package, which will entitle you to premium drinks and food during the party voyage, and a gold package, which entitles you to mixed drinks only," Folkes informs. A third, silver package, includes limited drinks.

"However, everyone will be served hors d'oeuvres and dessert courtesy of Best Dressed Foods and Crazy Jim, and dinner will be on sale at a minimal cost."

In addition, gate prizes will be indexed to the ticket tiers as follows:

One platinum ticket holder will receive a night for two at Goblin Hill Villas in Portland, while a gold tier patron could win dinner for two at Golden Gate Restaurant in St Andrew.

Sparkles, in St Andrew, has also provided a gift certificate for a lucky silver ticket holder. The fortunate patron will also receive a glamour photo shoot from Bryan's Photo Studio and make-up courtesy of Yahneake Sterling.

Nestlé, Wisynco, Cal's Manufacturing, Las Perlas Tours, Smart Mobile Solutions, Island Ice & Beverage Company, Ojay Koolers and Pepsi-Cola Jamaica Limited are among the other sponsors.

Folkes says Sunday's voyage, which is in keeping with the Rotaract motto of 'Fellowship through Service', will offer an alternate yet equally mellow vibe to the usual easy Sunday evening.

"And there is no need to worry about being able to go to work on Monday morning. The SS Caribbean Queen will dock at 9 p.m.," she assures.
