Major crackdown to be launched against criminal
St Lucia (CMC):
Prime Minister Stephenson King has announced plans for a major crackdown on criminal activities in St Lucia as he warned wrongdoers that his administration would be adopting a zero-tolerance approach to the situation.
Addressing the start of Tourism Week here, King said the new campaign would address the crime situation "once and for all" and promised that his government would leave "no stone unturned" in dealing with the problem.
He told the gathering of government officials, tourism planners, hoteliers, media representatives and members of civil society that in the coming week the government will be launching "a very extensive campaign" to deal with criminal activities.
"I would have failed as prime minister and head of government if I were to allow this situation to continue without putting every ounce of energy of mine in this effort, and encouraging and inviting every citizen to participate in a campaign dealing wit the crime situation here in St Lucia," King said.
