I'm still involved with youth football - Green
Former Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) vice-president, John Green, says contrary to reports in the media, he is still involved in youth football development in Clarendon.
Green, a member of the JFF youth football committee and director of football in Clarendon, says although he has resigned as South Central Confederation youth football director, he has not relinquished his post at the JFF or at the Clarendon Football Association (CFA).
"I resigned as youth director of the South Central Confederation due to its youth leagues running in the summer months, which is the same time my book shops - Chapelton Book Shop and Sports and Books in May Pen - sells the most," said Green.
"During this period I don't have the time to organise competitions, check match cards, the proper registration of players, etc. However, I have not resigned from the JFF youth committee, or being director of youth football at the CFA.
"I am also still director of coaching at the CFA and technical director of the CFA youth programme," he added.
Green, a former president of the CFA, has been serving youth football for over two decades and was one of 10 administrators who were honoured by the JFF at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, following the recent visit by FIFA president, Joseph 'Sepp' Blatter.
He is also credited with the evolution of inter-parish youth leagues in the late 1980s and early 1990s, which helped the JFF in identifying and harnessing the young and talented, and qualifying teams to the FIFA Under-17 and Under-20 World Cups in the late 1990s.
Green was also given a special award by the CFA recently, after announcing his exit from South Central Confederation duties.
In the meantime, Green is asking any school in Clarendon that is interested in participating in Primary, Preparatory, All-Age or Junior High football competitions to get in contact with him as soon as possible, as the competitions are scheduled to start in January.
