Friendly people
"I have been to Jamaica a few times. The people are friendly and the climate is incredible," the Grand Master said.
"I am happy to be performing in Jamaica and I thank Heineken for hosting this competition. For a science that I created over three decades ago and now its being taken to another level, I feel wonderful, it's great!" he said.
Flash fell in love with music playing his father's record collection.
"I was also quite excited about taking apart electronics so I combined that with my love for music," Flash explained.
As one of the architects of hip hop, Flash admits that he has been quite fortunate over the years to have worked with so many people and travelled extensively.
"Djing is now a global phenomenon that allows me to travel the globe. I have been blessed to have seen many different cultures and understandings of music and the effect it has on people," he commented.
Premier dj competition
The Heineken Green Synergy competition is the premier DJ competition in the world. It is held in many countries across the globe and is known for creating some of the biggest names on the turntables.
For the Heineken Green Synergy finals, the Grand Master says he is anxiously waiting to hear the presentations of the finalists.
"I am most looking forward to seeing how the contestants handle timing," he said.
He notes that for anyone who wants to do well in the music or entertainment industry, they must be committed. They must love what they do.
"My motivation and what keeps me grounded is the people. I am a servant when I am performing, so providing people with good music motivates me," he ended.
This will be Flash's debut performance in Jamaica.
Flash also shares the stage with International Scratching champion, DJ Qbert and DJ Enuff from Hot 97FM and BET.
