Defending champions Harbour View profited from a last-minute goal to sink home side Sporting Central Academy 1-0 in their Digicel Premier League match at Brancourt, Clarendon, yesterday.

The goal, credited to Christopher Harey in time added, came when his free kick deflected off the wall and past goalkeeper Jacomena Barrett, who was having his first start of the season after battling injury since the second half of last season.

The goal seemed to literally break Sporting's heart and their small band of spectators on hand, as they had looked to be salvaging a draw, despite putting together the better of the chances during the second half.

It was the second straight game where the Clarendonians were undone by a free kick.

Luck seemed to have run out on them when in the clearest opportunity to score, Onike Ford, in a frantic effort to add his name on the scoresheet, stopped what appeared a sure strike with an ill-timed header that steered away a Levaughn Williams shot that had eluded goalkeeper Richard Barrett on a clear path to goal, much to the dismay of his teammates.

Final placing

Harbour View now have 16 points and cannot qualify for the final, as Tivoli Gardens' 2-1 victory over Reno (14 points) yesterday lifted them to 21 points and the other final placing.

Waterhouse, who started the day leading on 19 points, sealed their spot in the final with a 1-0 win over Portmore United (16) in last night's late game at Ferdie Neita Park, that lifted the Drewsland team to 22 points.

Boys' Town remained on 17 points after losing 2-1 to Benfica (14) at Drax Hall.

Yesterday's loss kept Sporting Central on 13 points.
