Take a gamble on Working Image

Super Saver was retired because of concern over bone bruises in his legs and will become a stud horse. Tests last month revealed the bruises, WinStar Farm racing manager Elliott Walden said. He anticipated a full recovery but felt there was a "slight risk" the colt would not return to the form he showed in the spring. "He has nothing more to prove," Walden said. - AP

Eight overnight allow-ance horses are slated to contest the annual renewal of the G.A. 'Sarge' Bucknor Memorial Cup over the straight-five course, feature event at Caymanas Park today.

Included in the line-up are WORKING IMAGE, NEW KING-STON, REGGAE ROCK and the lightly raced American five-year-old mare, THEBANDISLOOOSE, the quartet from which the winner should emerge.

Of these, REGGAE ROCK has been the most consistent, having finished second in his last two races in really good company.

Trained by Robert Darby Sr, REGGAE ROCK was beaten a length into second place by the progressive 3-y-o filly, SEA DEVIL, over 1300 metres on October 16, and a fortnight earlier also finished second to MEDICAL REPORT in the Jockey Club Stakes over 1400 metres.

ENJOYS GALLOPING

Back in action with a 49.0kg and in-form Dick Cardenas aboard, REGGAE ROCK, who enjoys galloping over the straight, will only go down fighting.

The Wayne DaCosta-trained American 4-y-o gelding, NEW KINGSTON, also relishes the straight and although lightly trained, as usual, is coming to run under bang-in-form champion jockey Omar Walker.

NEW KINGSTON was only 2 3/4 lengths away fifth to ANTIOCH over 1100 metres when last raced on October 9 and, on past performances, should make it close.

The imported mare, THEBANDISLOOSE, is an interesting entry, having finished a length second to ANTIOCH in the same race with NEW KINGSTON on October 9.

Trained by Fitznahum Williams, THEBANDISLOOSE was running on strongly at the finish after missing the break and coming wide into the straight on what was only her second outing locally.

She is ready to do herself justice and, providing she comes away in good order, could go one better with the experienced Richie Mitchell replacing flyweight claiming apprentice Richard Cole.

IN-FORM JOCKEY

While respecting her chances, the one I like best is WORKING IMAGE, to be ridden by in-form Dane Nelson for top-line trainer Anthony 'Baba' Nunes.

Although sparingly raced this season, the four-year-old colt by Image Maker out of Working Number has looked sharp at exercise in preparation for this trophy, galloping from the gates on Monday morning in 1.00.0.

When last venturing over this trip on September 18 with Nelson aboard, WORKING IMAGE finished like a runaway train over the last 200 metres, failing by a neck (in a dead heat with GAMBOA for second) to catch THE GUARDIAN in a fast-run race (58.1).

Although coming back with a below-par effort behind CLASSY PROSPECT over 1200 metres a week later, a race apparently coming too close to his September 18 effort, WORKING IMAGE reports nicely refreshed and, from the convenient mark of 52.0kg, looks the right choice.

Other firm fancies on the card are MARVELOUS LADY in the second race; the 2-y-o debutante CARIDAD in the fourth; PALACE GOLD to repeat in the fifth; CLASSICAL BABE in the sixth; and KRYPTOGRAM to catch SHE'S SMOKIN and HERROYALHIGHNESS in the knotty Alex's Imports 'Dig Out' Handicap for three-year-olds over 1300 metres, a race in which the maximum 16 will run.
