Online feedback

Below are edited excerpts from comments posted online at www.jamaica-gleaner.com by readers to yesterday's lead story 'Fit to drive' about campaign to allow people who have epilepsy to drive. Reactions to another story (Mike) Henry lashes PNP's 'ginnalship' are also posted.

Respect the disabled

Many epilepsy sufferers should be allowed to drive if they pass the driving test. I have met people suffering from that illness, and have an accident-free driving record. What would you say about a pilot without hands who is flying a plane? Come on Jamaica, it's time that you respect people with disabilities, and treat them as fellow human beings.

Don't bow to pressure

I hope the Jamaican Government does not take a detour in this matter because of pressure from lobbyists. All residents who have had a heart attack or stroke and visitors who declare they have suffered a stroke or heartache attack should not drive on any roads.

I would dread to be the complainant they hit while having one.

Re: Mike Henry -Political gimmickry

Both sides are playing politics with the people. The taxes being collected to fix the roads do not belong either to the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) or the People's National Party (PNP). But both sides play politics with it. So while Mike Henry is talking about PNP ginnalship, he is rolling out JLP ginnalship.

All across the country, there are roads in need of repairs and I do not know that there are JLP roads and PNP roads. The taxes were forced on us to fix the roads so proceed so the people and the country will benefit.

At the end of the day, the people will know who to praise and who to blame.

Honestly Mike? Please!

Of course you are going to 'outginnal them with honesty and with integrity', Mr Henry. This road-building exercise will be more akin to the Labour Day projects that were oh so conveniently planned for constituencies where by-elections were being run. Remember, the honesty and integrity were so blatant there that the PM just had to issue a public commendation.

Remember also that affiliate organisation where the members all achieved 'spin doctorates'. All the better to convince us that marl is actually barber green.
