Not much has been heard from Andrew Chin since his second performance in the 2006 Digicel Rising Stars competition where he finished in the top 10.

But it seems there is renewed interest in his musical career after his appearance in RiseUp.

The artiste, called Brushy One String, first emerged in the early 1990s with his songs Chicken in the Corn and Walking Dreamer. He soon released an album.

Towards the end of the '90s his career seemed set to take off when he went to Japan Sunsplash, but then, nothing.

"At the time I was mostly facing some financial challenges and educationally," Brushy had said during an interview with THE STAR.

History seems to have been repeating itself, as after Brushy's appearance in the Digicel Rising Stars show, nothing was heard about him.

That is until now.

Brushy is back, it appears, and will be performing at Redbones tomorrow night.

Redbones has been promoting live music this year and have regular offerings on Thursday and Friday nights.

On Friday for instance, the blues bar will also showcase the music of Crimson Heart Replica, Jovi Rockwell, and Sezi - all artistes who have been doing well on the live music scene and represent the next generation of live musicians.

One-man show

Brushy, on Thursday, will be performing as the only artiste, which suggests, he has enough material to cover a one-man show.

After Brushy failed to win The Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2006, one wondered what he would have done. The artiste, an educated man, who (at least for the first three and a half years) went to business school, has other options.

At the time, however, he had said, whether or not he had won the competition, he would not have left music behind.

"After this, if things don't go my way, then I will get back in my musical shoes and I will be going international, if I get the right man-agement. So I will still be around, win, lose or draw."
