... Ashli's Bistro?
The two chefs at Ashli's Bistro, love preparing dishes from scratch and the bistro allows just that.
Chefs Ann-Marie Wright and Dale Hinds have been with the new restaurant since it opened in September. It is located at Shop # 5, 77 Knutsford Boulevard, across from The New Quad.
"I've loved cooking since the age of 10," said Wright who has been a chef for seven years.
"I've done courses at Chong's Catering School and trained with Emma Sharp," she told Food.
For her, preparing the bistro's guava barbecue ribs, which is served with sweet potato chips and vegetables, is a highlight. She especially enjoys making the sauce which is done fresh and from scratch.
Dale Hinds, enjoys preparing the items from their tapas menu, which is a wide variety of small dishes, their night menu.
Hinds' experience is from working in the kitchens of many North Coast hotels.
"I'm hoping for high standards, and a lot of customers," Hinds said of his expectations for Restaurant Week.
Quality food
Proprietor Monique Walcott, has created the recipes which are executed by her capable chefs. "I'm a 'sucker' for quality and good tasting food," she said. The restaurant, which is named after her daughter, whips up a tapas menu by night and lunch specials by day. Their meals are done to order and tries to meet their customers' requests.
Walcott notes that presently they are paying close attention to their customers' requests and making an attempt to tailor their menus to suit them. The tapas menu includes dishes like stuffed chicken breast with sweet potatoes and cream cheese in a lemon wine sauce. They also have a pizza menu which includes personal pizzas and slices.
One of the selling points of the eatery is that they are open for 24 hours on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
