Published:Friday | November 5, 2010 | 12:00 AM

Negril will come alive November 20 with the fourth staging of Seashli Entertainment's Different Strokes '70s, '80s and '90s Retro Party, which will be held at Chances on Norman Manley Boulevard. The popular party series, which is held two times per year, was first held in March 2009 and since then, its popularity has grown tremendously. This staging of Different Strokes will feature popular FAME FM DJs Colin Hinds and DJ Marvin, along with Negril's own DJ-Absolute.

Promoter of the event, Sean Greenfield, said, "As a promoter, I try my best to give the patrons something different and exciting every time with Different Strokes, because we want them to come and experience the best music from the '70s, '80s and '90s. The atmosphere for this party will be out of the ordinary and, as you can see, the line-up of disc jockeys will keep the patrons dancing all night."

Strictly the Best in December

VP Records is set to release Strictly the Best Vol 42 and Strictly the Best Vol 43, the latest CDs in its annual compilation hit series, on Tuesday, December 7. Now celebrating its 20th anniversary of showcasing the very best in reggae and dancehall music from throughout the year, the Strictly The Best (STB) series is a proven hit with fans and the longest-running series in reggae music.

STB Vol. 42 lives up to its name with hit singles such as Unconditional Love by Jah Cure (featuring Phylissa), Dark Skin Girl by singing-sensation Romain Virgo, So Much In Love from Gyptian, A Beer And A Girl by the eternal Marcia Griffiths, and reggae-rocker Tessanne on the glorious remake of Foreigner's smash ballad, I Want To Know What Love Is.

The 16-track Strictly The Best Vol. 43 sizzles with the titillating Turn Me On by Sean Paul, to Gyptian's romantic new single, Nah Let Go, the breakout hit My Heart Remix from Wayne Marshall, featuring Mavado, dance anthem How We Do It by Elephant Man and Bounty Killer, and Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley and Nas, featuring Dennis Brown, on Land Of Promise.

Ricky came out crying

Ricky Martin cried 'like a baby' when he revealed he was gay. The singer admits he was overwhelmed with relief when he finally ended years of speculation about his sexuality in a Twitter posting in March this year. He said: "When I realised, okay, I just pressed send, whoo ... I was alone. I was in my studio alone for a minute. My assistant walked in and I just started crying like a little baby. I started crying."

The 38-year-old star - who has two-year-old twin sons Valentino and Matteo with a surrogate mother - made the decision to reveal his sexuality for the sake of his children, saying he didn't feel he could sidestep it any more. He adds in the interview with Oprah Winfrey: "I couldn't take it anymore. It was too painful. But I guess the most important thing is my children. When I was holding them in my arms I was like, 'What? Am I gonna teach them how to lie?' Whoa, that is my blessing right there. Then, when I was holding my children I said, 'Okay, it's time to tell the world'."

Ricky explains in more detail his sexuality in his new autobiography, Me, which is released this week. He wrote in the book: "Since I can remember, I have felt a very strong attraction to other men and, although I can say that I have also come to feel a lot of attraction and a lot of chemistry towards women, it is men who ultimately awaken what is instinctive, the animal in me."
