Jamaica riders on show
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (CMC):
Three leading Caribbean jockeys have secured rides on the lucrative Breeders Cup Day at the prestigious Churchill Downs tomorrow.
The Jamaican duo of Rajiv Maragh and Shaun Bridgmohan, along with Barbadian Patrick Husbands, are all down on the 11-race card worth US$17.2 million.
Maragh leads the way having been partnered with Musket Man in the day's feature, the US$5 million Breeders Cup Classic.
The 25-year-old Maragh has three other rides on the card. He will be astride Be Fair in the $150,000 Chilukki Stakes, Air Support in the million-dollar Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf, and Tizway in the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile, also worth a million dollars.
Bridgmohan, meanwhile, has a pair of rides - aboard Devils Humour in the $50,000 allowance first race, and JB's Thunder in the $2 million Grey Goose Breeders Cup Juvenile Stakes.
Husbands, who plies his trade at Woodbine racetrack in Canada, will be in the saddle on Grand Adventure in the million-dollar Breeders Cup Turf Sprint.
Breeders Cup Day is the most lucrative on the American horse racing calendar.
