Rural girls' action shifts gears

THE Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Digicel rural area netball competition will get into high gear today, with the start of the second round.

Action will get under way in both the junior and senior categories, where teams are divided into four groups in both sections.

Holmwood Technical, the defending champions in both sections, are drawn in Group Four in the junior section, which also includes Montego Bay High, Clarendon College, Old Harbour, Islington and Titchfield.

Last year's beaten finalists, Denbigh High, are drawn in Group One alongside Anchovy High, Frome Technical, St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), Bishop Gibson and St Hilda's High.

Herbert Morrison High head Group Three, which also has Bellefield High, Edwin Allen, Guy's Hill, St Mary High and Yallahs, while Group Two comprises Manning's High, Rusea's, Black River, Manchester, Glenmuir and Ocho Rios.

Holmwood, who are also the all-island senior champions after defeating urban winners St Hugh's last year, have been drawn in Group Four of that segment. The other teams in the group are Muschett High, Thompson Town High, Dinthill Technical, St Mary High and Titchfield.

Group One contestants are Irwin High, Frome Technical, Black River High, Decarteret College, Denbigh High and Albert Town High. Group Two includes Manning's, Knocalva Technical, STETHS, Manchester High, Glenmuir and Brown's Town High. Group Three consists of Herbert Morrison High, Porus, Edwin Allen, Tacius Golding High, Oracabessa High and Happy Grove High.
