... Truck Stop Grill & Bar?

Published:Thursday | November 11, 2010 | 12:00 AM

Everyone is welcome at the Truck Stop any time. Well, any time between 5 p.m. and 12 a.m. on Fridays, and Saturdays until 2 a.m.

A franchise of the popular Truck Stop in Florida, the West King's House Road location works just fine and has unlimited parking.

According to Omar Schour, the entry of the almost two-year-old location in this year's Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week is for its customers. "To give our customers a chance to take advantage of the different combos we don't regularly offer," he said. He added that in giving regular customers this "treat" it's also an opportunity to encourage persons who have never been to Truck Stop to give it a try.

The open-air location serves real Jamaican food like jerked chicken and pork. But instead of the regular foil, these are served on chinaware. And the cherry on top for Restaurant Week? Ice-cream and bread pudding.

The man behind the smoke is Chef Garfield Sutherland. A chef for 26 years, he has been with Truck Stop since the very beginning and more than knows his way around a kitchen. From the age of eight, he knew this was what he wanted to be and had already mastered the art of making coconut drops, grater cake and coconut cake.

During Restaurant Week, the fun-filled laid-back environment is perfect to take family or friends. So make this Restaurant Week an event and drop in at Truck Stop.
