Awesome Waist Management
"This party was our best yet!" was the overwhelming sentiment of Débé-Ann Chen, one of the organisers of the Waist Management fund-raiser in Mandeville on Saturday, November 6. Chen hailed it as a happy coming-together of a diverse cross section of Jamaicans and Trinidadians. Everyone came to have a great time and let loose after the close call with Tropical Storm Tomas.
It was held at the Godfrey Lands residence of Chen, one of the two promoters under the Ryde Entertainment umbrella. The cold weather was no match for the guests, as the dance floor was packed once the music got going. And little wonder, as Smoke of Renaissance had the crowd pumped with his selections of pop, reggae and soca. When the temperature soared, the bartenders were ready to sustain them for the next round.
The wine bar was provided by GraceKennedy, whose new selection of imported wines kept guests returning for more. The food stations set up by the pool became a popular lyming spot with guests who went for seconds and thirds. Items included: barbecue beef tenderloin, salt fish lasagne, roasted suckling pig, Caribbean Passion grilled sausages, doubles, curry channa, pumpkin choka and jerked chicken. Add Red Bull barbecue pig's tail, shrimp ceviche, breadfruit chips with a papaya salsa and several items more!
To top it off there was a Cadbury chocolate fountain with fresh bananas from Jamaica Producers, rum balls from Bird of Paradise, and a Ben & Jerry Ice Cream stand.
Guests refused to let the music end, and Smoke obliged, but they departed after 2:30 on Sunday morning with a promise to return next year!
