A call to decency
We agree with Ronald Thwaites, the member of parliament for Central Kingston, that those MPs with allegiance to foreign powers - and, therefore, ineligible for membership of the legislature - should fess up and go.
Mrs Sharon Hay-Webster, for one, knows our views about her. There are perhaps others.
We believe that it is immoral for members of the legislature to knowingly continue to breach the constitutional requirement on membership and then be party to the formulation and passage of laws to which they expect the public to adhere.
Indeed, those who throw their hats in the ring of public office ought to expect to be held to higher standards of accountability.
There may be a compelling argument that the present constitutional limitations on membership of the legislature is a piece of anachronism. That, however, is another matter, deserving of serious debate and, ultimately, if the country so believes, change.
Respect for the rule of law includes the Constitution. It is a pity that the parliamentarians do not seem to think so.
