Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) continues to play a significant role in the area of sports development with its decision to commit $100,000.00 to The Mico University College cricket team.

The sponsorship will assist with the team's development and training as they continue to hone world-class sportsmen.

In commenting on the sponsorship, Carlene Edwards, senior corporate communications officer, Supreme Ventures Limited, said that her company was excited about the partnership at this time, particularly as the sport continued to struggle to receive support locally.

"We are very pleased to have made this contribution to the Mico cricket team during this period when the overall interest in the sport is on a decline," Edwards said. "Mico have shown over the years that they have and will continue to produce players of a high calibre who can represent Jamaica and, by extension, the West Indies team."

"We hope that with our input and the commitment given from the institution towards its cricket team, the interest in the sport will rise once again," Edwards added.

Raymond 'KC' Graham, sports director for The Mico University College, was appreciative of the support and believes it will go a far way in helping the programme to fulfil its potential.

"This is a big gesture from Supreme Ventures. We welcome the help and appreciate the support. This contribution is a big boost to our cricket programme as it will go a far way in achieving our goal to ensure that the cricket team continue to do well. We also look forward to the continued support from Supreme Ventures," Graham said.

The Mico cricket team has won 18 consecutive intercollegiate matches, boasting at least seven former National Youth Players including Shacoya Thomas - former National U14 and U19 West Indies and Jamaica Youth player, Nkruma Bonner - Jamaica U19 player, and Zennife Fowler - former National U15 and current U19 Jamaica Youth player.

In January 2011, the team will participate in the UTech Classic, featuring teams from the United Kingdom and the Caribbean.
