Several riders suspended
Five-time champion jockey Trevor Simpson was one of several riders suspended by the stewards following disciplinary actions arising from inquires held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission on Tuesday.
Simpson, who is popularly called 'Slicer', was suspended for two racedays for careless riding aboard BEIJING BIRDNEST in the eighth race at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, October 27.
In addition, Simpson picked up a further one-day suspension for his riding aboard YES WE WILL in the second race on Wednesday, November 3.
His mount caused interference to APOINTFORKERRY leaving the 300-metre point. The suspensions, which will run consecutively, will take effect on Saturday, November 27.
Meanwhile, top apprentice Doushane Gordon, who rode SEA TRAVELLER in the fourth race on Saturday, September 25, was suspended for two racedays for the interference caused to SOMETHING DOING in the last 300 metres. His suspension will take effect next Wednesday, November 24.
Apprentice Robert Halledeen, who rode BROTHERLYLOVE in the 11th race on Monday, October 18 (Heroes Day), was suspended for three racedays for the interference caused to FABULOUS CONNECTION in the vicinity of the 200-metre point. His suspension will take effect on Saturday, November 27.
Suspended for four racedays
Jockey Elvis Murray, who rode TIME OF STORM in the second race on Wednesday, November 3, was suspended for four racedays for the interference caused to DAYTON'S LAW leaving the half mile, resulting in the fall of DAYTON'S LAW. His suspension will commence tomorrow.
Apprentice Jevvanne Erwin, who rode EXPRESS TRAIN in the sixth race on Wednesday, October 27, was suspended for two racedays for the interference caused to COLEMAN'S ROCK shortly after the start. His suspension will also take effect tomorrow.
Apprentice Richard Mairs who rode EXPLOSIVE REPORT in the ninth race last Saturday was suspended for one raceday for the interference caused to ESQUIRE leaving the 200-metre point. The suspension will take effect on Wednesday, November 24.
Apprentice Conrod Ellis, who rode DI-LAW in the ninth race on Friday, November 12, was suspended for two racedays for the interference caused to MYRTLE WAY leaving the 700-metre point. The suspension will take effect on Saturday, November 27.
Champion jockey Omar Walker, who rode MEDSTAR in the ninth race on Saturday, October 23, was severely cautioned for the interference caused to the winner, FIRST EDITION, in the vicinity of the 200-metre point.
