FRIENDCAM: Close cousins
Who said cousins couldn't be close friends? (No smart-ass jokes about 'cooking good soup'). Well, cousins Sherone Walters and Stacy-Ann Walters got close to each other when they met in sixth form about five years ago at Holmwood Technical High School and have been friends ever since. Friend Cam unearths the secrets to their long and successful friendship.
What's the most expensive gift you've received?
Sherone: The gift of life, of course, because it's priceless and worthwhile.
Stacy-Ann: Life, because life cannot be replaced or priced.
What are the two essential things you think the other can't leave the house without daily?
Stacy-Ann: Sherone has to comb her hair because she takes great pride in her attire, and having her cellphone properly charged so that her phone is always up and going.
Sherone: Ensuring that she combs her hair because she often uses this phrase, "Your hair is your beauty," and she always makes sure she has money before leaving the house.
Which emotion do you both believe is stronger, anger or love?
Sherone: Love is definitely stronger than anger because it is from love that anger often derives.
Stacy-Ann: Anger can break the world and love can build it, therefore I believe that love is stronger.
If both of you were prime ministers of countries, which country would you want to govern, and why?
Sherone: Jamaica. I would ensure that the labour market could accommodate the majority of the population, which would then lessen the juvenile delinquency rate here.
Stacy-Ann: I share the same sentiment as Sherone, as some Jamaicans are not homeowners, which forces them to live in poor conditions. Therefore, I would put policies in place to improve the living conditions of people in Jamaica.
Tell us one thing you both miss about being a child?
Sherone: Being able with socialise with my friends because since I am now older, most of my friends from childhood days are now deceased.
Stacy-Ann: My 'innocence' (laughing). I wish I had not done some things on the path to becoming an adult.
If life were a song, which title would you give to each other's life?
Sherone: Stacy-Ann's life would be titled 'Struggler' because she has encountered numerous appalling experiences which she has overcome.
Stacy-Ann: I would title Sherone's life 'Hardship'. Being a friend of hers has made me realise that she has gone through a lot of adversities, which have helped to mould her mind and cultivate her spirit and contribute to her being the strong lady she is today.
What do you both believe can come between the friendship you now share?
Sherone: Death is the only possible answer right now.
Stacy-Ann: Anything else, other than death, that comes up in the future can be discussed and worked out.
