ONLINE feedback

Below are edited excerpts from comments posted online at www.jamaica-gleaner.com by readers to yesterday's front page story 'Conspiracy of lies, says Robertson'.

A time to shut up

Mr (James) Robertson, does not listen well. If his lawyer told him not to speak about the charges, then why is he talking about it at a political rally?

If the case is being investigated, he should keep his mouth shut until the investigation is completed, except he knows something that the rest of the people do not know.

The prime minister should not have brought it up and Mr Robertson, should not have said anything about it at the rally. There is a time when even a politician needs to be silent, especially if he is the target of an investigation.

Poor handling

If it is true that the US Justice Department is showing an interest in this case and the prime minister is just sitting until the contrary is proven, and if this is how Bruce Golding and his party handle matters of this magnitude, well!.

Asking the minister to step aside, until the contrary is proven, would be the prudent thing for the PM to do.

Bruce, this is a Hail Mary play that you are making. This outcome will prove you to be either goat or hero.

Be careful

Bruce Golding was being careful with this one. He did the right thing by handing over the letter to the police. It's possible that the allegations are true, but anyone can accuse any of us for anything; that's the reason why courts exist.

Can the evidence used to gain political asylum in the USA be enough to convict Mr Robertson in a Jamaican court if he should be charged for a crime on this matter? Could it be possible that Mr Johnson is using the the limelight of the Dudus extradition to his advantage? Mr Johnson's lawyer appears, to me, to be a big media trial man. Look at all the comments he made about Buju. If Buju had taken advice from him ( as offered in the media), he would have entered a plea bargain and now be serving time in jail. The times call for critical thinking.
