National champions Joseph Dibbs and Yvonne Foster were on Sunday crowned men's and women's champions, respectively, as the curtains came down on the 2010 Flow-sponsored Extreme Spin Table Tennis Open, at the YMCA Auditorium.

Dibbs, who represents the Portland Athletico Club, defeated Phillip Drummond of the Jamaica Defence Force 4-0 (11-2, 11-4, 11-5, 11-4) to take the men's open division.

For his efforts, Dibbs pocketed the first-place cash prize of $100,000 and the Flow Trophy.

Foster continued her rich vein of form as she defeated Patricia Nikiru Oje of Nigeria 4-0 in the women's final. The Meadowbrook High School student fought hard to win the very competitive match 11-8, 11-7, 11-7, 11-10. She pocketed $35,000 and the Superior Auto Parts Trophy.

In the junior division, Tracy Ann Dattadeen of St Mary High took the girls' Under-18 crown, while the boys' equivalent went to Kingston College's Glen Ross McDonald.

The boys Under-16 championship went to Nicholas Mahfood of AISK, while the girls' Under-15 title was won by Ashli Alexander of Ardenne High.

Pratik Harjani of Hillel Academy was a double winner, taking the boys' Under-12 and Under-10 titles. For his efforts, Harjani was voted Player of the Tournament.

Tournament director Jimmy Ho-on was delighted at the successful staging of the second-year tournament.

"We are more than pleased with the event in more ways than one; we had 38 more participants this year than last year, and for the first time we had two overseas female entrants from Nigeria," said Ho-on.

"Flow was extremely pleased to have supported the Extreme Spin Table Tennis Championship this year," said Denise Williams, PR manager at Flow. "The tournament provided a much-needed avenue for exposure for table tennis in the island. This sponsorship is part of Flow's continued investment in sports on the island, and we look forward to working with the team at Extreme Spin to continue to look for opportunities to promote the sport."
