Boys' Town sink TG again

Boys' Town once again played a number on the Digicel Premier League front-runners, Tivoli Gardens, beating them 2-0 in a hard-fought west Kingston derby inside the Edward Seaga Sports Complex last night.
It was Tivoli's first loss in seven matches and only their third since the start of the season. However, it was the second time that they were losing to Boys' Town this season, with this latest result leaving the four-time champions stuck on 29 points, while Boys' Town climbed to 26.
Tivoli's Jameel Thompson had the first real sight on goal, rifling a cross-turned-shot across the face of the goal that custodian Philmore Crumbie managed to palm to safety, after 15 minutes of play.
Scott makes save
Anthony Bennett responded for Boys' Town soon afterwards, but Tivoli Gardens goalkeeper Edsel Scott, who had earlier collided with an opposing player and injured his right ankle, went low to make the save.
Scott's counterpart, Crumbie, was also working hard for his paycheque and was called upon to make a double save two minutes later, as the game begun to open up.
However, the breakthrough came at the 38th minute and it was little surprise that it took a penalty to separate the storied rivals.
A Kasai Hinds handball inside the penalty box sent Renae Lloyd to the spot and the industrious midfielder coolly dispatched the spot kick to silence the home crowd, for his second goal in as many games.
Tivoli Gardens should have achieved parity three minutes after the break when referee Valdin Legister pointed to the spot for the second time, this time in their favour, after a handball by a Boys' Town defender inside the box.
However, the misfiring Roland Dean could find no way around Crumbie, who did well to parry the effort around the left upright.
Regrettable miss
It was a miss they would come to regret as, with what could very well have been his first touch, substitute Dean Thompson arrived at the back post to tuck away a teasing right-sided cross from Lloyd in the 76th minute, to seal the deal for the 'Red Brigade'.
Boys' Town tactician, Andrew Price, was pleased with his team's display of discipline.
"We moved the ball around a lot. I told my team to move the ball and my guys played a very disciplined game, and it was a very good display from the guys, they showed a lot of character," said Price.
Tivoli Gardens' coach, Glendon 'Admiral' Bailey, rued his team's missed chances.
"We started out well and created a lot of chances and we we just didn't put them away, and when you play a quality team like Boys' Town and fail to put away your chances it will haunt you," Bailey said.
