COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (CMC):
Unrelenting heavy rains wrecked the fourth day of the second Test between Sri Lanka and West Indies here yesterday, preventing a ball from being bowled and leaving a tame draw as the likely result.
The adverse weather continued from overnight into Friday, forcing ground staff at the R Premadasa Stadium to keep the playing area covered and severely limiting the prospects of play from early in the day.
West Indies had been set to resume at 165 for five, in reply to Sri Lanka's first innings 387 for nine declared.
Each day of the Test has been hit by rain, with only 37.2 overs possible on the opening day.
The series is level at 0-0 after the first Test in Galle also ended in a draw as that too was hit by rain.
