Garrell Trophy on the line
THE first inter-collegiate sports title will be decided today.
The Greg Garrell Trophy will be up for grabs as former champions G.C. Foster College will oppose College of Agriculture Science (CASE) in the knockout football final at 3 p.m. at the University of Technology (UTech) playfield. This will be preceded at 1 p.m. by a rescheduled female Division One game between University of Technology and The Mico University College.
G.C. Foster will be hoping to capture their first of two titles this season as they have also qualified for the Division One final after finishing second in the preliminary round on 20 points, one point less than the University of Technology who they will meet in that final.
In paving their way to the final, G.C. Foster had wins over Montego Bay Community College and Brown's Town Community College, and a 1-0 victory over the University of the West Indies in their semi-finals.
The Portland-based CASE had a walkover against Edna Manley College who failed to show for their match, 3-0 over Shortwood Teacher's College and a hard-fought 2-1 win over Portmore Community College in their semi-final.
Both teams are coming into the finals with contrasting results. G. C. Foster College went down 1-0 to the struggling Mico University College team while CASE edged Vocation Training and Development Institute 2-1.
