Lannaman's retain Henriques Cup

Defending champions Lannaman's Prep School retained the Henriques Cup on Saturday at the Mona Bowl at the University of the West Indies after defeating Hydel Prep 1-0.

Garfield Rennicks netted the lone goal for Lannaman's in the sixth minute of the second extra time with just two minutes to go before having to go to penalty kicks.

The match was a tense one between the two best teams in the competition. Both teams got chances in the regular time but just could not put them away.

The winning coach, Nigel Webb, was very happy for the win, saying the team deserved to win as they had trained hard and prepared well for Hydel and that the match could go either way.

The third place went to Vaz Prep who defeated Trafalgar Prep 3-0 earlier in the curtain-raiser. Clinton Bernard scored twice, one in each half while Davion Ashman scored in the second half to seal the match.

The teams now turn their attention to the Alberga Cup. The final will be played on Saturday at the Mona Bowl.
