"Lloyd Hall will long be remembered for his contribution to the success of music as a competition in the annual National Festival of the Arts. He brought to the festival movement a vast stock of skills in the preparation of the music syllabus, in conducting training seminars and adjudication sessions, all of which have enhanced development of the movement. Generations of teachers, music leaders and students have benefited from his expertise."

"... truly a music icon whose influence has left an indelible mark on the musical landscape of Jamaica."

"... a consummate pianist and conductor with a style all his own. He was passionate for professionalism, quality of work, discipline, decorum and order - a firm but generous leader. He was a true patriot who has left Jamaica the legacy of the music he wrote to the patriotic song Jamaica Land of Beauty with words by A.L. Hendricks."

Thanksgiving service for the life of Lloyd Hall was held at St Jude's Church in Stony Hill, St Andrew, yesterday.
