The season's top two-year-old, MISMYRTLEBOYRICHIE, ridden by champion jockey Omar Walker, dismissed the opposition at Caymanas Park yesterday with a seven-length victory in the $865,000 Dye Job Sprint over 1200 metres.

Installed a 3-5 favourite in a bid for his fourth consecutive win, the American two-year-old colt from the stables of Tony Kirlew, was ridden to dispute second with old rival DANCE SO SWEET (9-5) as ANNIE OAKLEY led at a fast clip on the rails in the early stages.

MISMYRTLEBPYRICHIE and the American filly DANCE TO SWEET went by ANNIE OAKLEY as a team from the half mile with MISMYRTLEBOYRICHIE' quickly asserting his authority to win by a wide margin (eased) under topweight of 57.0kg.

GALACTUS, one of seven horses saddled by champion trainer Wayne DaCosta for the race, came from nowhere in deep stretch to finish second at odds of 76-1 in a field of 12. The winner is owned by Jigzy Blade.

On a day when jockey Larris Allen rode two winners in NO SMOKING (9-1) and TRIPLE ACCOUNT (4-1), popular trainer Welsh Soutar saddled his 100th winner when the grey SPONGY SPONGY captured the sixth race over the straight at odds of 6-1.

SPONGY SPONGY was the first winner locally for 22-year-old jockey Tadious Simpson, son of five-time champion Trevor Simpson, who also rode BUTCHER GAL in the race. Jamaican-born Tadious had been riding on the North American circuit with some success for the past two years and only came here to ride a month ago.

The evens favourite FREE FALL, with Javour Simpson aboard, romped the closing Grooms' Association Trophy co-feature over the straight on what was Grooms' Association Day at the park. The winning grooms in each of the nine races was presented with cash incentives by the executive of the Grooms' Association of Jamaica.
