Recently Lachu Ramchandani, pageant director, who has worked with both the Miss Jamaica World franchise and the Miss Jamaica Universe franchise, handed over a cheque to Lorna Golding as part of his efforts to build a better Jamaica. Ramchandani, now organiser of the Miss Global International Beauty Pageant, made good on his promise of supporting the Jamaica Early Childhood Development Foundation of which Mrs Golding is the founder and chairman by donating US$1,000 from the proceeds of this year's pageant.

The handover dinner was held at the auspicious Spanish Court Hotel with members of the hotel executive staff, as well as Minister of Transport and Works, Mike Henry.

According to Ramchandani, "I have been walking around with the cheque for ages now, but there just wasn't a good enough time for me to do a formal handover until now.

"But I made a promise to Mrs Golding, who was the official patron of the Miss Global International Beauty Pageant this year, and I'm sticking to my word - and here's the proof," he laughed as he lifted the cheque.

In an effort to drive the transformation of the early-childhood education sector, the Jamaica Early Childhood Development Foundation, which seeks to partner with national and international stakeholders to improve the lives of all children in Jamaica, will benefit significantly from the donation.
