The selected few who braved the wind-chilled Monday night for the Little Theatre Movement's (LTM) launch of its 2010-11 production at the Little Little Theatre were treated to samplings of dialogues, dances and songs from the 70th anniversary pantomime. The selections were performed by members of the cast.

From the samples presented, there will be a little for everybody as far as music goes in Blinga Linga (The name of this year's pantomime). According to musical director Grub Cooper, "Pantomime over the years has always carried a wide variety of musical genre. It is always on the cutting edge as far as musical genre. This one has a traditional type from mento through, reggae through dancehall with an inflow of hip hop as in Text Me. You have to cater to those who want to hear that type of music. There will be something in there for everyone - musically".

The guests were also treated to samples of dances choreographed to reinforce the variety of musical genres. On the other hand, the spoken lines, as demonstrated in dialogue between Miss T the dressmaker and the not so young Miss Young, promises to be short and easy to follow.

Talent

Leading the line up of talent for Blinga Linga are Faith Bucknor, as Madda Young Gyal, Doreen King as Miss T and Jacqueline Higgins as Blinga Linga. Some new faces will also be on show.

The scenes presented were introduced alternately by Head of the production, Barbara Gloudon and many-time pantomime director Robert Clarke.

While other pantomime stalwarts Kevin Moore and George Howard, movements; Michael Lorde, set; Anya Gloudon-Nelson, costumes; Symone Coombs, props; Sylvester Campbell, sound; Lauriston Watson stage manager and Michael McDonald, lighting, make up the production team.

McDonald promises the lights for Blinga Linga will "carry the thoughts" of the other designers as well as the director.

The lights, as it has been over the years, will be key to creating the magical moments which may include the use of ultra violet (UV) lights and projectors. The lighting designer will also employ the use of chandeliers.

Blinga Linga will have its traditional opening on Sunday, December 26 at 6 p.m., at the Little Theatre.
