The 2009 Superstakes hero, HOMBRE, outclassed rivals to win the Open Allowance mile at Caymanas Park yesterday, pushing his lifetime earnings to just over $9 million.

Installed a 2-5 favourite with customary rider Andre Martin aboard, the five-year-old bay gelding by Pat N Jac out of Muchacha Favorita won by 1 3/4 lengths from the fast-finishing 8-1 chance, PRIME MINISTER, in a field of eight.

It was the fleet-footed THE CHIEF with 3.0kg claiming apprentice, Georgina Sergeon, who led at a fast clip from Saturday's scorer, BRASH & SASSY, passing the half-mile.

HOMBRE, who was content to sit just off the early pace in third, mounted his challenge three-wide entering the straight and after a brief duel with BRASH & SASSY, gained the ascendancy from early in the last furlong for a decisive win under topweight of 57.0kg.

Conditioned by veteran trainer Noel Ennevor for owner/breeder Wessel Burnett, HOMBRE reboun-ded from his good second to Triple Crown winner MARK MY WORD in the recent Superstakes - to notch his third win from seven starts this season.

Earlier in the afternoon, the improving three-year-old filly, SEVEN FOUR SEVEN (7-1), held on grimly by a neck to win the Titania Trophy feature over 1100 metres, from the fast-finishing SHE'S SO SWEET (2-1) in a field of 11 three-year-olds.

Ridden by top apprentice Doushane Gordon for trainer Dwight Chen and owner Jehnylle Wright, SEVEN FOUR SEVEN raced prominently in third as MISS CRYSTAL (30-1) led at a fast clip from LEGAL LADY. Getting the inside run into the straight, she went by MISS CRYSTAL a furlong out and just held on.

Chen and Gordon had earlier teamed up to win the 1100-metre high claiming event with the veteran campaigner, MEDICAL REPORT, at odds of 9-5. It was the 9-y-o gelding's 24th career win.
