Bonner in CCC Twenty20 squad
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):
Two new players have been named in a 14-man Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) squad to contest next month's Caribbean Twenty20 Championship in Antigua and Barbados.
Selectors have opted for Barbadian batsman Kyle Hope and Jamaican all-rounder Nkrumah Bonner in the unit that will be led by experienced top-order batsman Romel Currency.
Hope is an attractive 22-year-old right hander who played a single first-class game earlier this year, while Bonner, 21, is a strong leg-spinning all-rounder who has played for West Indies Under-19s.
No room has been found for former captain Omar Phillips, a steady member of the side who has already played two Tests.
The side will be boosted again by the presence of player/coach Floyd Reifer, big-hitting opener Martin Nurse, and seasoned off-spinner Ryan Austin.
CCC are set to play in Group A alongside Jamaica, Guyana, Windward Islands and English County side Somerset, in the tournament that runs from January 10-23.
They will fill feature in the tournament opener against the Windward Islands at the Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.
SQUAD: Romel Currency (captain), Floyd Reifer (player/coach), Miles Bascombe, Martin Nurse, William Perkins, Kyle Hope, Ryan Wiggins, Chadwick Walton, Nkrumah Bonner, Kavesh Kantasingh, Ryan Austin, Gilford Moore, Kevin McClean, Boris Hutchinson.
