The season's top two-year-old, MISMYTRLEBOYRICHIE, turned in another awesome display at Caymanas Park yesterday to win the $1.3 million Sweet Ruckus Trophy over 1400 metres, by the proverbial city block.

Installed a 1-5 favourite with champion jockey Omar Walker riding for trainer Tony Kirlew, the American-bred colt by Mingun out of Two Punch Christy made all.

He led on the bridle some three lengths clear of the chasing THERE GOES JUSTIN and after turning for home a clear leader, moved away from the grey THERE GOES JUSTIN to beat him by the resounding margin of 11 lengths, ticking off his fifth consecutive win in the process.

Very special

Eleven ran, including the winner's old rival DANCE SO SWEET (6-1), who surprisingly tailed off.

Owned by Jigzy Blade, 'MISMYRTLEBOY' covered the distance in the smart time of 1:24.1, prompting Kirlew to say, "he's very, very special".

Continuing, the second generation trainer said: "He's a grade-one performer right now and there's no stopping him. He's gonna beat them all next year, and with nothing more to prove maybe we'll send him to Trinidad."

The champion 2-y-o award now looks a mere formality for MISMYRTLEBOYRICHIE, having won his last five races (all in fast times) from seven career starts.

Walker, who has already sewn up the jockeys' championship, emerged the day's top performer with three winners in MISMYRTLEBOYRICHIE, the 1-4 favourite MING LEI in the first race and BREDDA PAPPA, a howling 1-9 favourite in the sixth race for maiden two-year-olds.

Narrow miss

He narrowly missed a fourth winner when highly fancied HEY TRAIN was beaten in a driving finish by the Dane Nelson-ridden 1-1 favourite, FLY TO THE MOON (made most), in the sixth and final race in the CTL Claiming Series No. 2 over 1500 metres.

The card produced two upsets, the more stunning by the three-year-old debutante TOP OF THE MORN, who made all in the eighth race over 1100 metres, winning at fantastic odds of 99-1.

The bay filly by Pat N Jac out of Miss Top Hat just held on from the fast-finishing DOCTOR DEVIOUS (6-1) in a field of 13 maidens. She was ridden by 4.0kg claiming apprentice Conrad Ellis, for veteran trainer Sydney Watson.

In this race, 4-5 favourite PRINCE PHILLIP stumbled and fell when lying second approaching the furlong pole, but apprentice Doushane Gordon, though shaken up, escaped injury.
