Former national champions, Seba United, earned the right to represent St James in the 2011 Flow All-Island Championship after coming away with a 1-0 win over Revelation in Thursday's final of the St James FA/Captain's Bakery & Grill Knockout competition, which was played at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay.

In a game in which their opponents turned in a sparkling performance but fell prey to faulty finishing, the Seba United aggregation secured victory, courtesy of a second-half strike by the prolific Jeremy Bucknor, who had the distinction of scoring in every game en route to the title.

"It was a tough game, but we remained composed throughout and got the result we wanted," said Seba United's assistant coach, Omar Clarke.

"We will now be looking at giving a good account of ourselves in the all-island knock-out, as we continue to rebuild for the future," he added.

Following an enterprising start, Revelation just missed taking the lead in the third minute when Davion Senior leapt high for a cross, but directed his firm header just wide of the far post, with the Seba United custodian caught out of position.

Seba United bounced back in the 13th minute when Bucknor got away before the goal, but was thwarted by the alert goalkeeper, Christopher Brown, who left his line to block the effort with his outstretched leg.

End-to-end action

By midway the half, it was end-to-end action as both teams took turns in attack. Seba United got the best chance when Javian Bailey breached the Revelation defence, but was denied by goalkeeper Brown, who again left his line to effect a timely clearance.

With time running out, Revelation wasted back-to-back chances in the 39th and 41st minutes, respectively. First, Senior got away before the goal but curled his shot just wide, then Anif Reid nodded straight at the defender, who was standing at the far post defending a corner kick.

The second half started with Seba United wasting an easy chance in the 49th minute after Kemar James got a clear header on goal from four yards. However, his effort flew inches wide of the mark.

With Revelation showing no respect to Seba United and streaming forward in numbers, they squandered yet another scoring opportunity in the 59th minute. Gary McLennon dribbled smartly through the heart of the Seba United defence, but hit a powerful grounder wide of the target.

After coming perilously close in the 62nd minute, when Bucknor struck the upright after breaking free before the goal, Seba United took the lead when Bucknor finally got it right in the 63rd minute.

After pouncing on a loose ball before the goal, he fired home powerfully, with the ball deflecting into the goal off the goalkeeper's body, making the score 1-0.

The goal, which was hotly disputed by the Revelation players, knocked the sting out of them as, instead of battling back, their performance took a nosedive, basically allowing Seba United to play cruise through the remainder of the game.

In addition to earning qualification for the Flow All-Island KO Championship, Seba United also took home $150,000 and the Captain's Bakery & Grill KO Trophy.
