Digicel's Destination Moon 3D attempted to give patrons a whole new experience to ring in the New Year.

Destination Moon brought fans deep within Hope Gardens on Friday night with a set-up that wowed a number of patrons.

The party got off to a rocky start as, when The Gleaner arrived at the venue after 11 p.m., the DJs were experiencing technical difficulties and no music was being played. Persons, however, came in and headed straight for the food or the bar until the music kicked in and Coppershot Disco took over playing some early music until the countdown to midnight and the New Year.

Fireworks

At midnight, beautiful fireworks lit the sky for several minutes as persons shouted and hugged friends watching the fireworks until it was time to party.

Destination Moon boasted of being the first 3D party in Jamaica and persons were given 3D glasses on entry to see the 3D effects that would be seen on screens across the venue. With a dance floor in the centre and various private booths surrounding it, the mainly white décor was suited for the 'Moon theme'.

The 3D effect, however, was lost on many patrons who didn't wear their glasses throughout the night, and for others who searched for that 3D effect, but couldn't find it.

With two long bars, the bar service was good throughout the night and so was the cuisine that consisted of the exclusive food promised by the promoters.

Patrons munched on sushi, lamb, lobster, shrimp, chicken, pork, pasta and more throughout the night.

Disc jocks

An interesting aspect of the party had to do with the disc jocks who were hoisted in the air, turntables and all, by a crane so that they hovered above everyone at the event. DJs Arif Copper, ZJ Eleckra, Cyrus and Marc Chin from Coppershot played a nice mix of music throughout the night that kept patrons dancing across the venue.

Arif Cooper played dancehall from early, with dancing songs from Serani and others, as well as some hip hop that had people on the dance floor from the beginning. Eleckra soon followed with new dancehall music from the likes of Vybz Kartel and Mavado as well as some popular songs before making way for DJ Cyrus who changed it up with songs like Pon Di River, Bad Man Forward and more.

Coppershot kicked off with some reggae before going into dancehall with Kartel's Slow Motion, Mavado's Feeling Lonely and more.

When The Gleaner was leaving the venue after 4 a.m , Arif Cooper was back on the wheels of steel with new music. The tunes that are expected to keep persons dancing in 2011.
