BRISTOL, England (CMC):

Bristol City manager Keith Millen says he is delighted for Jamaican international Jamal Campbell-Ryce, who scored his first-ever goal for the club in their 3-0 drubbing of Cardiff City on New Year's Day.

"I didn't know that was Jamal's first goal for the club until afterwards," a surprised Millen said.

"You could see how pleased he was with the celebrations, but he'll get a fine for the booking [for taking off his shirt to celebrate]. He won't mind."

Wonderful solo effort

The 27-year-old Campbell-Ryce, who signed for Bristol last January, produced a wonderful solo effort in the second half to cap off an impressive display from the hosts at Ashton Gate.

After Brett Pitman put Bristol ahead in the third minute and Lee Johnson doubled the advantage in the 39th minute, Campbell-Ryce surged deep into Cardiff defensive territory 10 minutes after half-time, taking on one defender before unleashing a right-footer from the edge of the area to beat goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

"I've been speaking to him about his end product, whether that's crosses or shots, because he can be a good goalscorer," Millen said.

Campbell-Ryce is a well-travelled winger who started his league career with Charlton nine years ago, and has since played for a raft of clubs.
