Four arrested for drug-ring involvement

PARAMARIBO (CMC):

Police said they have seized a quantity of cocaine, guns, ammunition and motor vehicles after arresting four persons including a Guyanese national on Monday.

They said that the four men, ranging in ages from 30 to 50 years, had been involved in a drug ring between the two Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries.

The names of those arrested have not been released, but the police said one is a Guyanese businessman while the three others are from Suriname.

The police said that they had seized 28 kilogrammes of cocaine, two handguns, a quantity of ammunition, two motor vehicles, a motorcycle and US$146,950 in cash.
