FOR THE past two and a half years, Virtue Events has been hosting some of Kingston's A.T.I's most favoured events, from Equilibrium to Pretty in Pink and Karma, catering to party lovers of all ages locally and internationally. The group comprises cousins Omari and Darren Virtue, and is a blend of sophistication and a genuine love for entertainment. Saturday Life sat with Omari Virtue recently.

  • What makes your events different from other events?

It captures a wide cross section of partygoers, and as result leads to a great party.

  • Why did you decide to get into the business of hosting parties?

Because I have always wanted to entertain people and keeping parties was a good way to achieve this.

  • Why is it important for a party promoter to always be up to date with the latest trends, why can't he just attend the event in a T-shirt and shorts?

When representing a brand it is important to portray a certain image.

Calm, cool and collected.

Virtue Events was born on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the first staging of Karma.

Virtue Events have been around two and a half years.

  • What are some the perks of being in this business?

I get to meet a lot of interesting people and also get to experience different types of events.

  • We understand you and your cousin have separate events outside of Virtue Events, give us an idea of these events?

Equilibrium 'Day Rave'and Street Swag; and Darren has Altitude and Pretty in Pink.

  • Now you are a part of the 'Appleton A-team' what is it and how essential is it to your company and events?

The Appleton A-Team is a group of experience promoters that fall under the Appleton umbrella. It is very essential because the group of promoters work as a team to promote each others events under the theme of 'One Motive and One Movement'.

  • Street Fridays is a new event under Virtue Events, tell us about it?

Street Swag is my individual event based on swag. Street Swag Fridays was designed to provide an economical Friday night alternative to the club scene where patrons could come and pay a low admission fee and get drinks at a reasonable price and still have a good time an listen to good music outdoors.
