Division One club Frazier's Whip gained a historic berth in the LIME St Catherine Football Association knockout final after they defeated Super League outfit Naggo Head 4-2 in an enthralling semi-final encounter at the Spanish Town Prison Oval last Wednesday.
With the win, Frazier's became only the second Division One side to make the knockout final. Naggo Head were the first, a feat they achieved in 1996. Frazier's giant-killing run started when they eliminated defending champions Portmore United 1-0 last week.
Frazier's Whip's goals came from Jamoy Sibbles (4th), national junior player Neco Brett (31st) Orlando Stewart (65th) and quarter-final hero Jevaune Benjamin who netted the final

- Goodwill Open League netball
Kings and Angels 'B' registered contrasting victories as action continued in St James Goodwill Open League Netball this week. In a one-sided affair, Kings buried Barrett Town 40-8 to register their third victory in as many games. Having to win, and win big, Kings followed the script perfectly, as they mesmerised the Barrett Town defence to take all quarters 10-2, 6-3, 13-1 and 11-2. The defensive unit worked very well, complemented with some poor passes from Barrett Town, to limit the attacks on goal and create opportunities for the young Sashalee Gaynor who had a game high 17 goal from 21 attempts, the experience Leonie Lawrence 11 from 19, Latoya Clarke seven from nine and Cerene Wallace five from 11. Kings (nine points) moved closer to Zone 'A' leaders Angels 'A' (12), with a game in hand before the mid-season final.
Angels 'B', on the other hand, had to work overtime to hold off the experience of Falmouth Strikers to win in the narrowest of margins, 23-22. Poor shooting, erratic passing and unforced errors were the order of the day for both teams, as Angels 'B' edged into the lead 5-4 at the end of the first quarter. Falmouth did enough to have a two-goal lead going into the final quarter by taking the second and the third 6-4 and 6-5, respectively. The youthful Angels rallied to take the fourth 8-6. Shagail Green-Barnett had eight goals from 15 attempts, Karine Morgan seven from 14, Lafrica Bennett five from 10 and Shanille Sylvester one from seven. The consolation goals came from Karen Hamilton, who had a game high 18 goal from 33 attempts and Cassandra Morgan four from 11. The win puts Angels 'B' atop Zone 'B' with 12 points but have the worst average (1.62) of the three Zone leaders. Juvvies with a 5.56 average, head Zone 'C' with a game in hand and Angels 'A' head Zone 'A' with 1.91.
Today and tomorrow will see the last round of games before the mid-final on Wednesday, January 12. On Saturday, Juvvies should win against UWI (West) at 2 p.m., Falmouth Strikers will look to bounce back against cellar dwellers Queens 3 p.m. and Pacers 'A' should set the pace against Ace Sport Club at 4 p.m. On Sunday, Pacers 'B' should have things easy against Barrett Town at 3 p.m. and Angels 'A's eyes should be on the Kings and Starlight 'B' match at 4 p.m. All games will be played at the Overton Netball Court.
